Asquith railway station

Asquith railway station is located on the Main North railway line in the northern Sydney suburb of Asquith. It is currently served by trains of Sydney Trains' North Shore, Northern & Western Line. The station is served by two trains per hour in each direction for most of the day, with additional trains during weekday peak hours. A few Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains operated by NSW TrainLink stop for the convenience of schoolchildren. Asquith has two side platforms which can accommodate 8-car intercity trains.Asquith is the 127th most patronised railway station in Sydney (out of a total of 176 stations), with an average of 1520 passengers boarding per day.HistoryAsquith railway station opened on 1 November 1915, in conjunction with a land development by R. Halloran & Company. It was named after the then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Herbert Henry Asquith, Earl of Oxford and Asquith. Asquith was the last railway station to open between Hornsby railway station and the Hawkesbury River.Platforms and servicesAs of the new Sydney Trains timetables on Sunday the 20th of October 2013: on weekdays the station is served by two trains per hour in each direction for most of the day, with additional trains provided during peak hours; and on weekends the station is served by two trains per hour in each direction for most of the day. Some early morning, peak hour and late night intercity trains on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line also stop at this station too.
